Here I Am...

Never mind, an old song... To begin with, a brief account of our visit to Washington D.C., a lovely place that by some strange universal accident landed on a wrong continent. :) We didn't get much chance to walk around the City, somewhat because of the rain and also our busy schedule. But we did see (at least from afar) most of the most famous monuments that make this city what it is. We were located in the City Center so we also saw all the old architecture that one wouldn't expect anywhere outside Europe, and also got a tour of a big fortress Americans call State Department. But we got a chance to see a whole lot of Bosnian politicians. I do not want to curse on this blog so I will just skip the general impression I got from our political "elite" and religious leaders. With people like that our country can only go – downhill. I did get a chance to meet a lot of interesting people outside of that group. I made a little mistake, 9 Bosnian students came to that anniver

Travel Around

I'm flying to Washington D.C. on Sunday for a really big thing: 10th anniversary of the Dayton Peace agreement. This article by Jonathan Steele, in The Guardian emphasizes almost all of the things I personnaly think about the current situation in Bosnia how much we can blame that piece of paper that we now call the Constitution for the situation. There're also another 6 students from Bosnia and Herzegovina coming and it seems that they invited us so we could lighten up the atmosphere a little bit. The celebration or whatever they're calling it will last for 2 days and will consist of intergovernmental as well as interreligious talks, and a lunch on Tuesday when I'm flying back to Memphis. I'm staying in Memphis until Sunday though (tomorow: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire :)), and after I get back I'll stay at my friends Bethan's house until the end of the week, so I don't think I will have enough online time to actually post something here, but I&#

Predatory Beasts

Crazy looking thing isn't he? Anyway this is another Web Comic I found and that has me intrigued somewhat on how the story may continue. If you follow this link , you'll find a simply drawn comic (without color, smth. I prefer very much) by Jonathan Allen (another poor student like me, trying to make a living...), about nuclearly induced temporal distortions, couple of "revolutionary" thieves that will just this one night steal 'only' food from a grocery store and a creature that travels the time and space of all the Universes in an instant. Interestingly enough, this immediately reminded me of Narnia and Lewis' depiction of a world created and coordinated by a Lion. Also I immediately loved the weird looking characters (that might be better if drawn bigger) because of their real life-likenes, even though they're supposed to be Dogs, Cats and what-what. One other thing (cos the comic isn't finished and I don't really want to destroy your enjoy

Update

Just to inform you of another thing that might turn out huge: Mr. Stimpsons body seems to have succesfully fought off the HIV virus and a year after he was told he was positive is now completely healthy. Though, he does refuse any further testing... In other news, I have succesfully added an Online Comic Strips section to the sidebar, so now you can daily enjoy the same strips I do. Apart from Doonesbury and Boondocks, there are now also Scott Kurtz's "Player vs. Player" (PvP) and several volumes of a Comic titled Dicebox. I just discovered Dicebox (again, thanks to Darko Macan's blog for all of you who understand Croatian/Bosnian/Serbian), so we can read it together. It seems very controversial and rather too blatant at some points but story so far has only few glitches and the artwork is unusually good for web comics. I have also more nicely layed out for you my Earlier Articles section, now going back to the first article I wrote since coming here. For earlier ar

Hotty Totty

Interestingly enough, I've written so much about what's going around the Campus and Oxford, but didn't mention the main thing (from the name of the post). Now all of you know that the teams here're all "Rebels" and the supporters are "Rebels" and you can find anything with the same word on it, from T-shirts to spoons and pencils. That's America for you. But you don't know the "supporters cheer", hehehehe. And this is where it gets funny. "Are You Readdyyy??!" Hell Yeah! Damn Right! Hotty Totty! Gosh Almighty! Who The Hell Are We? Hey! Flim Flam! Bim Bam! Ole Miss! By Damn! I can just see the faces of all the people I know back home (goddamn this blog, it doesn't support smileys...). Theyre probably asking themselves: "What MADE you memorise this???!!!" Well, it was either this or let the Alabama University supporters win the "singing of the cheers" contest in the local Pub... Heh, you get the pictu

Lov'ly jobly

When you start to think about stuff, you really discover that you can put a lot of stuff in writing. Different stuff, every day, and today I'm going back to my favorite: Newspaper Comic Strips. Calvin and Hobbes actually. Now, Americans will remember (unless they have the "weekend memory", but of that later) this ingenious little boy and his creator, Bill Watterson . People from Bosnia and Herzegovina and neighbouring countries, unless they're either really into comics or spent some time in the States, weren't as lucky to have him in our lives every day and rarely find an interest in looking up what's this all about. The story in short, follows the adventures of this stereotypical 6 year old, Calvin, who has no friends, loves to spent his time inside instead of outside, is no good in schoolwork, and has only two positive things in his life (as he sees it): his tiger, Hobbes, and his imagination. How could I even begin to explain just through what do they go t

Everyday, smth. new :)

Here are some photos from my birthday party (well, one of them, the one I had at midnight was with a little less people and, unfortunately without a camera). With this note I will direct all of you (who, by some strange accident never heard of it) to the new sidebar link. FaceBook is the growing online society of American students and I think, faculty members aswell, where you can post photos like these and see photos of other people, join clubs and meet other people etc. etc. Nice little thingie with a big future (it exists only for a year and already incompasses all American Universities). So all you non-Americans don't have to worry for a long time, it will spread. I guess I should mention a story that has a potential of becoming HUGE in the coming year. If you skip some nationalistic stuff, it seems to indicate that there is a 100m PYRAMID in Bosnia and Herzegovina! It seems to be very old, and was covered by some layers of earth over the centuries but the uncovering has begun.
